Child Pornography Distribution Prompts Arrest Of Anne Arundel County Man: Police

Child pornography possession and distribution prompted an Anne Arundel County arrest, police said. The suspect was released on bond.

ODENTON, MD — Police said they arrested an Odenton man Wednesday on child pornography charges.

Troopers identified the suspect as 38-year-old Matthue Rama Koontz.

Court records show that Koontz is charged with three counts of child pornography distribution, a felony, and five counts of child pornography possession, a misdemeanor.

Koontz was released Wednesday after posting a $5,000 bond, the record says.

The Maryland State Police said it launched the investigation this March.

The Computer Crimes Unit said it obtained media files of child pornography that were being distributed online.

Investigators said they later identified Koontz as the suspect.

Troopers said they served a search and seizure warrant Wednesday around 6:20 a.m. at Koontz's home. Court records list Koontz's address in the 300 block of Eagles Landing Court.

A preliminary review of Koontz's electronic devices revealed multiple child pornography files, authorities said.

Police said they arrested Koontz at the scene.
