Community to Find New Apartments for Those Displaced

Apartment leasing agents in Seven Oaks said they hope to find new units for those displaced by Sunday's fire, and said some could be moving into new living space this weekend.

The Red Cross has provided emergency help to 19 families living in 23 units at the complex, spokesman Doug Lent said. He said the group is working with the Seven Oaks community to ensure people can find new living space nearby.

"It’s always our hope that they can get back into the community where they were living," he said.

Lent said the Red Cross found temporary living arrangements for six families who needed it.

Meanwhile, Lent said the Red Cross is always looking for cash donations to replenish its Disaster Relief Fund. He said the group responds to an average of three fires a day in the region.

“The fire that comes the next day, or the one after that, is the one we’re planning for," he said.

Cash donations can be made online at Redcross.org. In-person cash donations can be arranged by calling 410-624-2030.

Separately, donations of clothing, household goods and other items were being accepted at the Seven Oaks apartments leasing office on Blue Water Boulevard.
