April 1, 2011

A Severn man was arrested April 1 after police found over and other drug-related items in his home off of Golden Pine Circle, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Special Enforcement detectives arrested Roger Brown, 34, as he was exiting his vehicle near Quarterfield Road and Parke West Drive in Glen Burnie after receiving a tip in February that he was distributing cocaine.

After arresting Brown, police conducted a search of two separate residences at the 400 block of Pamela Road in Glen Burnie and the 7800 block of Golden Pine Circle in Severn.

After searching both locations and conducting further investigations, detectives found about 267.18 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine HCL (powder) worth about $26,718, according to police.

April 18, 2011

Two men robbed Severn's  at gunpoint Saturday April 16 and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Anne Arundel County Police. 

Police responded to the call at the 2600 block of Annapolis Road in Severn around 9:55 p.m. After seraching the surrounding areas officers were unable to find the two suspects. 

A man wearing a white bandana over his face entered the pizzeria and exposed the handgun to the Gianni's employees while the other suspect demanded money.

The pizza workers complied and handed over an undisclosed amount comprised of their personal money as well as Gianni's, said police.

The victims could not identify the vehicle or direction with which the suspects left the scene.

April 20, 2011

Three teenagers were arrested after police found them in a car full of candy and sports drinks suspected of being stolen from a concession stand at Old Mill High School, according to county police.

Michael Aaron Hicks, 18, of Carriage Drive, Severn and Nathaniel Matthew Stevenson, 18, of Winbourne Lane, Glen Burnie were arrested early Wednesday morning and charged as adults with theft, fourth-degree burglary, trespassing, and malicious destruction to property. A 16-year-old boy from Hanover was also arrested and charged as a juvenile with the same offenses.

According to a police report from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, at about 12:10 a.m. April 20, officers from the Eastern District on foot patrol in the Old Mill area of Millersville observed a suspicious vehicle traveling on the lot of Old Mill High School with its headlights turned off.

Officers stopped the car and found a large quantity of candy and sports drinks in the vehicle. They determined that the suspects had burglarized the concession stand on the high school’s playing field.

Approximately $300 in concessions were recovered and returned to a school representative.

April 25, 2011

Last week, police identified a Severn man as the driver responsible for an accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge which resulted in the death of a 70-year old, according to an article in The Washington Times.

According to the Times article, police said the victim, Harry Blauvelt, was forced off the bridge and fell over 50-feet into the water after his disabled vehicle was struck from the rear by a flatbed truck, driven by Severn resident, Enos Hutton Sage. 

Blauvelt was rushed to the Anne Arundel Medical Center but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sage is not facing charges, according to police.

April 29, 2011

Despite using the efforts of a K-9 unit, Anne Arundel County Police are still looking for one man linked to an armed robbery in Severn last Thursday afternoon. 

Around noon on April 29, officers received a call about two men forcing their way into the back of a residence in the 1800 block of Oriole Court. Upon arrival, police witnessed the men fleeing on foot.

Capt. Jerard Flemings, a commanding officer in the Western District, captured one of the suspects after a foot chase, according to a police press release.

Other police officers surrounded the area but were unable to find the second man.
