Firefighters Help Pair Stranded on Flooded Patuxent Road

Two people found themselves stuck as water surrounded their car. The road was closed to traffic.

Firefighters from Anne Arundel County assisted two people who found themselves stranded on a flooded stretch of Patuxent Road in Odenton Tuesday night. 

Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said firefighters responded at 7:41 p.m. and found two people who were stuck in their car on Patuxent Road near Bragers Road. Cox said the car was stranded in water that rose to more than three feet. 

The pair was helped to safety without any injuries, Cox said.

Patuxent Road frequently floods during heavy rains, and was blocked to traffic Tuesday.

Cox said it appeared that the two people had driven around cones and a sign marking the road as closed.
