Firefighters Prevent Deck Fire From Spreading To Annapolis Home

A deck caught fire in Annapolis, but firefighters' quick response prevented the blaze from burning a downtown home.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Firefighters' swift response prevented a deck fire from spreading to a downtown Annapolis home this week.

Nobody was hurt during the brief blaze.

Crews said they were called Monday around 1:30 p.m. for a fire in the unit block of Randall Street.

First responders said they found a fire on the third-floor deck of a single-family home.

"Thanks to the quick actions of the occupants who immediately called 9-1-1 and the rapid response of firefighters, crews launched a swift attack, containing the fire to the deck and preventing it from spreading into the home," the Annapolis Fire Department said in a Tuesday press release.

Investigators determined that the fire was accidental and that it started on the deck.

"We extend our gratitude to our mutual aid partners, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the Naval District Washington Fire Department, for their assistance," the Annapolis Fire Department said.
