Fort Meade Airman Found Dead Off Base

An member of the Air Force who was based at Fort Meade was found dead in a hotel room off base, officials said. 

The Air Force said the Airman was from the 70th ISR Wing, and the cause of his death is being investigated. His identity was not released. 

The Air Force said the airman's body was discovered on June 26. 

"This loss affects us all and we are greatly saddened by this unfortunate incident," said Col. Mary O'Brien, 70th ISR Wing commander.  "Our sympathy goes out to the Airman's family, friends and fellow Airmen during this extremely difficult time. The Airman's professional service to our Nation will not be forgotten."
