Fort Meade Breaks Ground on New Exchange
The new $26 million facility will have an expanded food court and more services.

Construction on Fort Meade's new shopping center is underway.
Garrison officials and contractors got together for a groundbreaking for the $26 million new Exchange.
Fort Meade's public affairs office reports that the Exchange is scheduled to open in 2014. The first phase of work will involve the demolition of the current PXtra and construction of a temporary parking lot. (The new Exchange will be built on the current parking lot.)

The new Exchange will be 167,000 square-feet in size, or about 30,000 square feet larger than the current facility. It will have a larger food court with more vendors, installation officials said.
