SEVERN, MD — A Severn man faces three criminal charges, including felony assault, after officers said he pointed a loaded handgun at several people and fired a gunshot, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers were called to the 8400 block of Jacobs Road in Severn about 6:45 p.m. July 19 on a report of a shooting. Investigators said James R. Frend Jr., 33, left his home, pointed a handgun at several people, and fired a round into the ground.

According to Maryland online court records, Frend is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

He was released from jail on $7,000 bond.
