Heroes Welcomed Home at BWI

Hundreds gathered to give a special July 4th welcome to soldiers returning from overseas.

Hundreds of people crowded the international terminal at BWI Airport Thursday to welcome service members returning from overseas.

Local residents decked out in red, white, and blue lined the exit area to shake hands, slap high fives and give thanks to members of the U.S. Armed Forces flying in from Rammstein Air Force base in Germany.

Family members of about a dozen soldiers were also on hand for emotional reunions.

This was one of the largest events of the year organized by Operation Welcome Home Maryland, which holds them nearly 30 times monthly for soldiers coming home. Its next event is scheduled for the afternoon of Saturday, July 6.
