Lightning Strike Sparks House Fire at Fort Meade
Two homes were destroyed and others were damaged in the fire in the Potomac Place neighborhood Sunday. No one was hurt

A lightning strike led to a fire that destroyed two homes and damaged two others on Fort Meade Sunday evening.Â
The fire started at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Potomac Place neighborhood.
Families living near 5th Corps Avenue and Taylor lane were evacuated.

The two-alarm blaze brought firefighters from Fort Meade and the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.Â
Several families have been displaced by the fire. They received assistance at a neighborhood center Sunday night and are also getting help from the USO, Fort Meade Community Service and the Red Cross.Â
