Gubernatorial Candidate Forum: 8 Maryland Dems Will Pitch Platforms To Anne Arundel Voters

Eight Democratic governor hopefuls will make their pitch to Anne Arundel County voters at a Thursday candidate forum in Gambrills.

GAMBRILLS, MD — Eight Democratic gubernatorial candidates will make their pitch to Maryland voters at a Thursday forum in Gambrills. The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee organized the event. It will last from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Kingdom Celebration Center, which is located at 952 Annapolis Road.

The candidates listed below will attend. Their names are hyperlinked to their campaign websites, where they shared more information on their platforms.

Planners also invited Tom Perez, the former chair of the Democratic National Committee and the U.S. labor secretary under Obama. Perez could not attend because of a schedule conflict, however.

The forum moderators will be:

  • Bishop Antonio Palmer (Senior pastor of Kingdom Celebration Center)
  • Jenese Jones Oden (At-large member of the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee)

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to 150 people. Interested attendees must email annearundeldems@gmail.com.

Though guests don't have to buy a ticket, they are encouraged to bring donations to the new Kingdom Kare Family Support Center. Needed items include diapers, bottles, baby food, wipes and formula.

"The forum will highlight the Democratic primary candidates’ policy initiatives and provide Anne Arundel voters an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates," the Democratic Central Committee said in a press release. "AACDCC is proud to bring such a Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Forum to Anne Arundel County voters for the first time."

Early voting for the gubernatorial primary election starts June 16, 2022 and ends June 23, 2022. Primary election day is June 28, 2022.

Early general election voting runs from Oct. 27, 2022 through Nov. 3, 2022. Election day is Nov. 8, 2022.
