Norman Myers, 75

The longtime community leader and businessman passed away after a long illness.

Longtime community leader and businessman Norman G. Myers passed away Friday after a lengthy illness.

He was 75.

Myers, who most recently resided in Gambrills, was the owner of Alphagraphics/Revere Printing in Odenton. He was a former president of the West Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce as well as president of the Greater Odenton Improvement Association.

Myers was also instrumental in the formation of plans for the Odenton Town Center. He was a founding member of the Odenton Town Center Plan Oversight Committee, and remained so until his death.

"We thought, we’d done all this work helping with the development of the town center, how were we going to tell if it’s executed like we all planned it?” Myers said in an interview in 2012. “The county has people in zoning and planning that do a good job, but they’re looking at it from the technical side of it and sometimes they lose sight of the community’s image of what should be.”

Myers was a charter member of the Rotary Club of West Anne Arundel County and served on the board of directors of numerous organizations.

A native of Baltimore, Myers had been battling cancer for several years, but still went to work most days and was a fixture at meetings of the Rotary club and town center committee.

Myers is survived by his wife Maureen and four children. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
