Officer Charged In Hit-And-Run Crash In Anne Arundel County: Police
A police officer was charged in a hit-and-run crash in Anne Arundel County, authorities said. He was suspended without pay.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — An Anne Arundel County police officer was charged Monday in a hit-and-run crash that damaged property, authorities said.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department accused Cpl. Russell Ruehl of being involved in the hit-and-run in a marked police car on Dec. 28, 2024, while he was off duty.
Ruehl has worked for the Anne Arundel County Police Department for five years and is assigned to the Bureau of Community Services. He was suspended without pay pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards, a press release said.

Police said Ruehl "was charged, via multiple traffic citations, for his involvement in the hit and run crash." Online court records do not yet list the specific charges against him.
