Police Charge Man in Theft of Truck Batteries

Officers said they observed Daniel Corona entering and exiting the county landfill on Burns Crossing Road.

Anne Arundel County police have arrested a Crownsville man in a series of battery thefts from trucks at the county landfill. 

Police said they charged Daniel Orlando Corona, 29, with five counts of theft from trucks inside the landfill on Burns Crossing Road.

According to police, officers were doing surveillance near the landfill at about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday and saw Corona enter the landfill and go to where the trucks were parked.

They saw Corona leave the landfill about 45 minutes later and pursued him into a wooded area nearby. A further investigation indicated Corona had apparently removed nine batteries from several trucks and placed them near the fence line surrounding the landfill property, police said.
