Power Outages Widespread in Odenton, Severn

The Odenton and Severn area hung in there late Monday, but the power eventually went out at thousands of homes across the area. 

A map of outages from Baltimore Gas and Electric showed that there could be more than 10,000 people without service in the Odenton area alone. However, as of Monday afternoon, power was being restored to many customers in the area. 

Power outages were widespread in Piney Orchard and points south, as well as major sections of Gambrills.

Residents of Seven Oaks, however, told Patch that electricity stayed on in some sections.

There were numerous reports of trees down in neighborhood all over West Anne Arundel County.

Roadways were largely clear and traffic lights were operational, though the light at Waugh Chapel Road at the Village at Waugh Chapel was dark.

Things were better further north in the Severn and Hanover areas. At the Dunkin' Donuts on Dorsey Road in Hanover, customers crowded in and took advantage of free wi-fi and a television tuned to CNN. 

I'll be out and about for most of the day to get a handle on how the area fared.
