Makeshift Utility Pole Belongs to Verizon—Company Vows Repair
Workers used a tree branch to suspend a utility wire which Verizon claims is safe.
The belongs to Verizon, according to a spokeswoman from the global telecommunications company.
Located at the corner of Severn Road and Cedar Drive, over the Severn Ridge construction site.
“Despite how it may appear, the line is secure and does not present a safety hazard,” said Sandy Arnette, a spokeswoman for Verizon in an email to Patch. “It appears the contractor attached the line to the tree in order to get heavy equipment in to clear the land.”

Arnette said the company must undergo specific steps when it comes to erecting a utility pole.
“The wire must first be surveyed to ensure the pole will be placed in the right-of-way, or we must get written permission from the developer,” she said. “We have ordered a pole and expect to install it soon and attach our phone line to it.”
