Ridgeway Children Raise More Than $11,000 in Jump Rope for Heart
The donations will be given to the American Heart Association.
The children of Ridgeway Elementary more than tripled their goal of $3,000 for last month’s Jump Rope for Heart event on April 11.
The school recently announced that the children raised $11,700.42. The highest single fund-raiser was fourth grader Jason Mitchell Belt, who brought in $825.
His mother said the boy's efforts were dedicated to his grandfather who died of a heart attack last year, said PTA president Kendra Dill.Â

Students sent emails to friends and family requesting one-time donations using a pledge form, said Dill.
After reaching specific goals, children earned prices from the American Heart Association like water bottles, t-shirts and other trinkets, said Dill.
