Rotary Club Inducts New Leaders, Honors Norm Myers

Mary Groven was installed as the new club president.

The Rotary Club of West County inducted new leaders on Friday morning and paid special recognition to one of its longest-serving members.

Mary Groven was installed as the new club president, while Peter Grayson will serve as vice president. Arlene Rayburn will serve as treasurer, while David Kay was installed as secretary. Sarah Bonise is the new sergeant

This is Groven's second stint as president. She previously served in 2010-2011.

"Being here gives me a unique opportunity to one-up myself," she said. "I am looking forward to my chance to re-do."

Groven said she plans to bolster the group's Youth Exchange program and build more support for the Interact Club at Arundel High School.

The club also honored longtime member Norm Myers as a Paul Harris fellow, for his lifetime contributions to Rotary. Myers, a former chamber of commerce president and local community leader, has often been referred to as the "Mayor of Odenton."

"He was here from the beginning," past club president Mike Livingston said. "He is something special to this community."

Five of the club's original charter members were in attendance Friday.
