Severn Patch Turns 1 Year Old

My favorite memories from the past 12 months while covering Severn, and a brief glimpse of what's to come.

One year. That's a long time.

But to be honest, it's been one of the fastest years of my life.

On Nov. 10, 2010, I launched for our neighbors in Severn. Since then, I've learned more about the town of than I ever thought possible.

Through all the stories — going to local events, attending Severn meetings, reporting on your reaction to and that unexpected , I've learned a lot about the people of Severn. I hope to keep learning more.

Towns aren't that different geographically—some are near water and others aren't—but what makes a town unique, what makes it tick, are the people, and that's where I hope the future of Severn Patch lies. I hope to become even more integrated into the community and continue to share the stories that highlight what, no, who, Severn is.

As I strive to do this, I'll continue to offer you the fastest and most accurate news pertaining to our town, and highlight all those little things that you enjoy about living in Severn.

I'll continue to push for in-depth reporting, to stay atop breaking news and highlight the local people whose stories are simply too good to miss. But in addition, I hope to contribute to the natural conversation, and sometimes start it, when it comes to the simple things in life that make us all part of this community.

Whether it's the explosive development coming our way from the , to the increasingly visible , I hope to lead a charge of community chatter that not only discusses these issues, but helps bring solutions, too.

If you've been a reader since the very beginning or you're just stumbling upon the site today, I thank you. And I hope that the next 365 days are just as exciting and action-packed.
