Two Severn Men Arrested on Handgun Charge During Traffic Stop in Brooklyn Park

The arrest took place in Brooklyn Park, near Ritchie Highway North and Church Street.

Police arrested two Severn men on charges of transporting a handgun in a vehicle after pulling them over for a routine traffic violation.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers pulled over an older model Chevy Malibu with three passengers due to a registration violation near Ritchie Highway North and Church Street in Brooklyn Park. During the procedure, a warrant check showed that one of the passengers had an outstanding warrant. Police also smelled a faint odor of marijuana from inside the car, according to a press release.

Police searched the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia and in further searching the vehicle, officers found a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, according to the release.

All three passengers in the car were arrested, including two men from Severn.

Eduard Baxter, 24, of the 8100 block of Telegraph Road and Kenneth Davis, 20, of the 1000 block of Loving Road were charged with transporting a handgun in a vehicle.

The third suspect, Akeem Belvin of Brooklyn Park, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
