Crash Kills 1, Children Among 4 Hurt: Police
A crash killed an Upper Marlboro driver and hospitalized four in Severn, police said. Three children were among the injured.

SEVERN, MD — A head-on crash killed one and hospitalized four this week in Severn, police said.
Officers identified the deceased as James Thomas Sims of Upper Marlboro.
Authorities said the crash happened Monday around 5:04 p.m. at Telegraph Road and Norcross Lane.

Police said they found two SUVs, a 2014 Ford Expedition and a 2011 Lexus RX, with significant front-end damage.
The Anne Arundel County Fire Department extricated both drivers.

Officers said Sims, the driver and only occupant of the Lexus, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Maryland State Police Aviation Command flew the Ford driver, a 19-year-old woman, to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
She is listed in critical but stable condition.
An ambulance took three of her Ford passengers to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, police said.
Officers expect the 7-year-old boy, 5-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy to survive.
Authorities are still investigating the wreck.
