GAMBRILLS, MD — WJZ reported that vandals broke into a youth sports equipment storage shed Saturday at Bell Branch Athletic Complex in Gambrills, causing about $10,000 in damage.

WJZ said the vandals spray-painted profanity on the doors, destroyed uniforms and smashed holes in most walls. WJZ added that the unknown suspect(s) also stole copper wires from electrical boxes, rendering the baseball field lights inoperable.

"It's heartbreaking," lacrosse coach and Crofton Athletic Council Board Member Kirsten Fass told WJZ, noting that the nonprofit will have to fundraise for replacements and repairs. "It just hurts the kids in the community."
