Firefighters from the region battled a residential fire on Myers Court in Severn on Saturday just before noon.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Jack Beall said a fire at a home on the 600 block of Myers Court started as a result of illegal fireworks.

Two adults were home at the time of the fire—a 51-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. The man suffered serious injuries, but was not transported to a hospital. The woman was not injured, Beall said.
