UPDATE: Arundel Mills Double Homicide Suspect Killed in Shootout

Police are confirming that the man responsible for last night's shootings at Arundel Mills Mall is dead after a shootout with police in Prince George's County.

The man who is believed to have shot and killed two people at Arundel Mills Mall late Friday was pronounced dead after a shootout with police Saturday morning, according to a Prince George's County spokeswoman.

The shooting, which left a man and a woman dead, was not a random act of violence, Anne Arundel County police said at a Saturday morning press conference. The incident occurred in the parking lot outside Dave and Buster's just before midnight Friday.

Prince George’s County police investigated a connection between the shootout and double murder after an officer was shot in the 8100 block of Rydal Road in Forestville this morning, according to Prince George's County Police Cpl. Henry Tippett.

The wounded officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect had come out of his house wielding a shotgun and an AK-47, according to Tippett. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mall was closed during the shooting, but the adjacent movie theater was open, Anne Arundel County police spokesman Lt. Francis Tewey said.
