Weekend Planner: From Crafts to Classic Cars

There's plenty of fun things to do this weekend in and around the Severn area.

After spending my , I was surprised to learn how well veterans take care of one another and the community. That drive to better themselves and others continues this weekend, as the Legion Post hosts a craft sale/flea market.

All of the proceeds go towards community projects. So if you buy something, you're basically donating to the community. Swing by and see what treasures might be waiting for you.

Why Go: All of the proceeds go back into the community and projects that need attention. It's a great way to snag some trinkets for cheap and giving back to your hometown.

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday at , Edgewater

Why Go: Proceeds benefit the Annapolis Navy Junior ROTC

Cost: $20 to participate; spectators are free

When/Where: 6 p.m. Friday at , Glen Burnie

Why Go: The Anne Arundel County Branch of the NAACP will honor local residents for their contributions to the community. Original members of the Tuskeegee Airmen also will be honored at the event.

When/Where: 4 p.m. Saturday at , Odenton

Why Go: Church members will reenact the wedding of Mary and Joseph, then recreate the village of Bethlehem as it was during the time of Jesus. There will be "shops" and artisans, as well as a campfire and cider.

Why Go: See the annual Tree Lighting at Bowie Town Center and enjoy holiday festivities including visits with Santa, music, giveaways and more. The first 150 shoppers to register in person with Simon.com will receive a special gift.
