A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. The owners of McAvoy's sports bar are being honored for more than just running a great place to watch the game. Bill and Diane Schmittenger and Adam and Maria Bloom, of Bel Air, will be honored by Baltimore-based Hope and Peace Foundation's Community Partner of the Year during an award ceremony at 7 p.m., April 13 at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 34, 734 Wampler Road, according to a news release. "At a time when many businesses have been forced to cut out charitable donations, McAvoy's has sponsored or hosted over 20 events annually to benefit causes and charities within the community," the news release reads.  The owners have hosted more than 20 events locally and contributed to events such as The Hope and Peace's Foundation Ride for Life.
