A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. Temperatures were above freezing in Parkville-Overlea this afternoon, but that didn't stop the snow from falling — or sticking to the ground, trees, cars and whatever else happened to be convenient.  The National Weather Service reported a temperature of 36 degrees, with a high of 38 today.  It looks like this will be the last snow for at least a little while; temperatures will stay above the freezing point this weekend, and it looks like the National Weather Service is calling for rain, not snow, through Sunday. Flakes stopped falling by about 1:35 p.m., but it was a fun preview of things to come while it lasted.
