Rat Eradication Sweeps Slated for Loch Raven, Hillendale This Month

Baltimore County will be making rat eradication sweeps through Loch Raven and Hillendale later this month.

The sweeps will take place March 25, weather permitting, Councilman David Marks said.

"It’s one of the most common complaints I hear from people in the Loch Raven area," Marks said.

He said this is the first time the county’s rat eradication program will come through Loch Raven, but that it has previously been active in Hillendale. 

"This has been a recurring problem,: Marks said.  

In February, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz touted the success of the Rat Attack program in a news release that reported the county had treated 2,100 homes since April 2012.  

"With continuing education and enforcement, we have achieved quantifiable results and positive feedback from treated communities, where residents are reporting a dramatic decline in rodent sightings," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in the news release. "People increasingly realize that human behavior is the biggest variable in successfully eliminating this health hazard from our neighborhoods and they are stepping up to make important changes like using rodent-resistant trash cans, cleaning up pet waste and addressing potential burrowing locations."
