Six Republican candidates are facing off in the primary race for county executive in Baltimore County.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Election Day is July 19 for the Maryland primary. Locally, six Republican candidates are vying for the chance to run for county executive in Baltimore County.

Patch sent out questionnaires to local candidates who were running in contested primary elections. Below are candidate A. Scott Pappas's answers. Patch will also publish the answers of any other candidates who responded.

Legislate the Adequate School Facilities Task Force recommendations to end school overcrowding

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Experience in representing Baltimore County resident's interests.

If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?

Olszewski has failed to address school overcrowding, failed to rescind the North Point Government Center sale his father forced on the residents of Baltimore County, failed in crime prevention, and is permitting an illegal inspection waiver for developers costing taxpayers millions of dollars.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Taxes and Crime, including malfeasance in government by enforcing the Inspector General's reports and audits.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

For the past 20 years I have been president of several nonprofit service organizations advocating for communities through out Baltimore County, member of advisory committees for the MDOT, historic preservation, environment, and industry. Operated small business and member of business associations; introduced and lobbied legislation at local and state levels.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Do it when you're young cause you can't do it when you're old.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

If your do not vote for me, please pressure the candidate you support to legislate the Adequate School Facilities Task Force recommendations into law.
