Couple Sues Baltimore County Police Department Over Arrests

"I thought I was gonna die," said a woman arrested in Overlea after an encounter with police.

A couple is suing the three police officers and their sergeant for $25 million in damages. They said officers surrounded their car in Overlea, broke a window, hit one of them and arrested the couple when they were doing nothing unlawful.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — On April 8, James Como and Wanda Redd attended a family gathering in the Overlea neighborhood of Baltimore County. As the couple walked to their car, they were stopped by two police officers in the parking lot.

According to Baltimore County Police, they were called to the area at around 1:45 a.m. for reports of a public disturbance and reports of a couple fighting.

“We weren’t fighting, I didn’t have no bruises, he didn’t have no bruises, he didn’t have anything, nothing was wrong with us,” said Wanda Redd in an interview with WJZ Tuesday.
