Dangerous Heat Prompts Heat Advisory For Baltimore County

A heat advisory calls for temperatures that feel like 109 degrees.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — As temperatures tick up, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory that takes effect on Thursday.

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 21.

Temperatures on the heat index — what it feels like due to the actual temperature and humidity — will be from 105 to 109 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, which advised the hottest area would be southern Maryland.

These areas are under the heat advisory:

  • Anne Arundel County
  • Baltimore County (southern)
  • Calvert County
  • Cecil County
  • Charles County
  • Harford County (southeast)
  • Prince George's County
  • St. Mary's County

Heat-related illnesses may occur due to the hot temperatures and high humidity, officials said.

To avoid becoming ill, people should reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening; drink water; and wear loose, light-fitting clothing. People working outside should take frequent breaks in shade or air-conditioning.
