A press release said several officers fired their guns "in response to the male subject's actions, striking him."

Once inside the home, officers said they found a woman suffering from apparent stab wounds.

Authorities said they provided aid to the woman and the man, who were both taken to a hospital.

Police said the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

One officer was injured and was also taken to a hospital, the release said.

All officers involved were wearing body cameras, and they were all placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown's Independent Investigations Division will now investigate the officer-involved shooting, as it does with all police-involved deaths.

Detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit will investigate the stabbing.
