Roller-Skating Rink Closing After Nearly 50 Years In Nottingham

A roller-skating rink is closing in Baltimore County. The rink has been open for nearly five decades.

NOTTINGHAM, MD — A roller-skating rink will close in mid-December after nearly five decades in Baltimore County.

Skateland Putty Hill announced the news on Oct. 31.

"The landlord has given us notice that our lease is being terminated in 45 days & will be closing," Skateland Putty Hill said on Facebook. "It's been our pleasure serving the community for 48 years!"

Danielle Samuels has fond memories of Skateland.

"The 80s babies definitely kept this place packed when we were coming up," Samuels said on Facebook. "I was a regular every single Saturday growing up with my sister and father at the North Point location. Those were good times and good memories for sure."

Patty Neumayer Price called Skateland "the go to place in the early 80s."

"I was always at putty hill skateland," she wrote on Facebook. "I worked there for years."

The rink is located in the Nottingham-Overlea area at 8019 Belair Road.

"Skateland will always be one of the best [parts] of my childhood memories," Amber Justice said on Facebook. "From a small child having birthday parties, all of the way up to being a teenager hanging with my friends!"
