Rachel Applegate, born in Ambler, Pennsylvania, is an emerging artist who uses storytelling and emotion to shape her darkly imaginative works. Working in oil paint, charcoal, and ink, she often explores unconventional characters and psychological themes. A lifelong artist who has studied through school art camps and classes, Rachel plans to transfer to Arcadia University to pursue a career in medical illustration.

Maureen Lysle is a Pennsylvania-based artist pursuing a degree in Animation and Film at Cecil College. Her work explores color, fantasy, and storytelling, drawing inspiration from the Warrior Cats and Percy Jackson series. Rachel Wylie, a Maryland-based artist originally from Delaware, combines her background in psychology with her passion for visual art. Her work ranges from detailed botanical studies to expressive portraits, exploring perception, emotion, and the human experience. A student in Cecil College’s Art and Design Program, Rachel’s art has been featured in multiple Elkton Station exhibits and has received honorable mention recognition. She plans to continue creating and to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts with K-12 art education certification.

This exhibition features drawings, paintings, designs, sculptures, and ceramics selected by the art faculty and represents the full breadth of work created in the Art and Design Program. Proceeds from pottery and gallery sales will directly benefit the college’s art students. The event also functions as an open house, highlighting the program’s studios and inviting visitors to learn about opportunities in art, design, and ceramics at Cecil College.

The Art and Design Program at Cecil College offers students a strong foundation in studio-based practice across multiple media. It prepares them for transfer to four-year institutions, initial employment, or career advancement in areas such as fine arts, graphic design, and art education.

Join us for the Art and Design Student Exhibit Opening Reception on Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Elkton Station Gallery is open for visitors Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. During the month of January, the Elkton Station building will be closed on Saturdays, except for Saturday, Jan. 24.
