Let's Get Slimy Young Founder A Perryville Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics or volunteer service. Katelyn of Perryville is taking AP classes and helping cats find homes.

PERRYVILLE, MD — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors. This submission comes from Kim Roman in Perryville.
Star local student’s name Katelyn, seventh-grader

How do you know the star local student? Granddaughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized? Not only is Katelyn currently enrolled in advanced placements (AP) classes in North East Middle School, she is an avid volunteer with Chesapeake Feline Association (helping cats and kittens find great homes) and Lil Barnette interactive farm animal experience (caring for animals and working with children) in Elkton.
She participated in the Start Up Cecil youth entrepreneur program through the North East branch of the Cecil County Public Library, where she was inspired, at the age of 13, to start her own Maryland licensed business called Let's Get Slimy, where she sells slime at various arts & crafts fairs and markets throughout the state.
All this, and Katelyn cares for our many household and barnyard pets. She is self motivated to learn about animal care and is helping to build a small structure for the next family endeavor —more chicks and dwarf Nigerian goats!
This kind and compassionate young woman deserves recognition for her contributions to our multi-generational home and the community.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student? She's an impressive asset to our multi-generational home and our community.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future!
