
Dr. Abraham Allan Genut has been named division head of neurology at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Genut, who is board-certified in psychiatry and neurology, has been a member of the GBMC medical staff since 1991. He was made medical director of stroke services in 1999, and chief of neurology in 2008, according to a news release from the hospital.
He earned his medical degree form the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical System, the release states.

Genut is a clinical instructor in neurology at Johns Hopkins University Hospital, as well as clinical assistant professor in both neurology and psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Before he came to GBMC, he was chief of the Division of Neurology at Union Memorial Hospital.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology.
He succeeds Dr. Howard Moses, who retired in December 2010, and had served as chief of neurology since 1965, when GBMC was founded.
Also at GBMC, Dr. Joan Lewis Blomquist was named division head of urogynecology.
