Student Golf Championships May 2 and 3 to be Broadcast Online

The 2011 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland Golf Championships begin next week, Monday-Tuesday, May 2-3 at the newly redesigned Fox Hollow Golf Course in Timonium.

Please note that the championship is scheduled for 18 holes featuring a par-36, 2,590-yard front nine, beginning at 2 p.m. both days.

Each school will field four players and their performances will determine the team score.

McDonogh is the two-time defending "A" Conference champion, also taking the title in 2006.  The Eagles four losses this season have come at the hands of the top two teams in the conference in double round-robin play.

Roland Park Country School went 8-0 this spring, while Bryn Mawr finished 5-3. The Reds also won back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008, along with the inaugural title in 2005. Mercy and Notre Dame Prep round out the five team championship.

While the "A" conference has been dominated by two schools, the "B" conference has seen different champions in each year since 2008.

Defending champion Mount de Sales Academy is undefeated in dual match play going 3-0-2 this spring.

Catholic High, the 2009 champion, is undefeated and unbeaten at 4-0. Due to weather, a match between the two was postponed on March 31 and never made up.

Backyard rivals Garrison Forest and St. Paul's School for Girls finished a close third and fourth, respectively, separated by only one-half game in the standings.

Institute of Notre Dame, St. Timothy's and Seton Keough complete the seven team field.
