UPDATE: Storm Causes Thousands of Outages, Flooding Possible

UPDATE (10:56 p.m.)—The storm that is passing through Baltimore County Tuesday evening has caused only minor damage so far, according to Capt. C. Ross Cooke of the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Most of the damage, Cooke said, was concentrated in the Pikesville, Brooklandville and Lutherville areas.

Baltimore Gas & Electric reports 14,000 customers are without power, 10,000 of them in Baltimore County.

As of 9:44 p.m., there had been some calls about downed wires, and one call from in Pikesville, regarding a damaged electrical meter, Cooke said.

No significant damage or injuries have been reported, Cooke said.

A tornado warning is over, and a severe thunderstorm warning ended at 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

However, a flash flood warning is still in effect through 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a severe weather bulletin by NWS.

One Patch reader reported hail in Falls Village in Mt. Washington.  were reported in Brooklandville, Ruxton and Pikesville, Cooke later said.

"People drive into this high water and they can't get out," Cooke said. "A lot of them, the people are out by the time we get there."

However, he said fire crews did need to rescue passengers in the 3500 block of Overbrook Road in Pikesville and the 1700 block of Ruxton Road in Ruxton.

Calls of minor damage began coming through at 8:45 p.m., and by 9:40, the storm was passing through Brooklandville, he said.

A tornado warning that was in effect for Baltimore County was over just after 9 p.m. However, a severe thunderstorm warning remains through 10 p.m., including winds of up to 60 mph, Cooke said.

Areas that were expected to be affected included Pikesville, Timonium, Cockeysville, Towson and Parkville. For a full list of affected areas, visit the severe weather warning.
