Lauded MoCo Restaurant Closing Amid Ownership Change

A popular Italian restaurant in Montgomery County restaurant is closing Sept. 30 after a change in ownership.

POTOMAC, MD — A popular Italian restaurant in Montgomery County restaurant is closing Sept. 30 after a change in ownership.

Renato’s at River Falls, 10120 River Road in Potomac, is known for offering traditional Italian, Mediterranean and seafood cuisine.

The restaurant's ownership group, Potomac Restaurant Group, told DC News Now that the new buyer wants “to make a major investment in the restaurant space” prompting its closure.

“It had always been our hope that a buyer would purchase the restaurant as is and transition to the new buyer would be fairly seamless, continuing uninterrupted with improvements occurring over time," Potomac Restaurant Group said. "That is not how this transition will occur.”

The restaurant website noted the kitchen is led by Chef Oscar Contreras.
