A Week in Review: Solar Energy, Crime and a Lost Boy

A look at notable events for the week of July 25 to Aug. 1

This week Riverdale Park & University Park Patch launched finally and we were already breaking news about Riverdale Park Police finding a boy roaming in his pajamas around midnight Saturday morning. Thankfully, the boy was reunited with his father shortly thereafter.

We learned about the energy efficiency movement in University Park, including the residents and the church that decided to be the first to install solar panels.

Many stories this week were dedicated to covering the frequency of crime in the area. We talked to Corporal Roland Alexander of the Riverdale Park Police Department who gave us tips on how to stay safe and we spoke to University Park's Police Chief about the public safety forums in town. We also spoke with Officer Larry Johnson with Prince George's County Police about the decrease of crime within county boundaries.
