Armored Truck Guard Ambushed, Shot At Prince George's Bank: Police

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — An armored truck guard was listed in serious condition after he was shot during an attempted robbery in Riverdale Park Saturday. The incident took place at the Wells Fargo bank located at the corner of Baltimore Avenue and East-West Highway at approximately 4 p.m.

The armored truck guard was driving the truck and making a delivery at the bank when he was approached by several armed suspects who attempted to rob him, police said. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the guard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was first listed in critical condition, then upgraded to serious.

The suspects fled the scene. The private security firm that employs the guard, GardaWorld, described the attack as a "violent ambush" and "cowardly."
