Councilman Drafts Emergency Response Plan for Riverdale Park
After two natural incidents came through town, Riverdale Park is hoping to be more prepared for the next one.

Last week wasn't a week anyone was expecting.
On Tuesday, an earthquake hit and only four days later a hurricane arrived.
Although, no one died due to the incidents, nor was there any major damage, other than to two homes, it could have been worse, which is why the town wants to be prepared.

Riverdale Park Councilman Jonathan Ebbeler (Ward 1) introduced the resolution that if passed will help the town prepare for an evacuation or other necessary action if the following occurs:
- Derailment of trains and/or train accidents
- Chemical spillages
- Snow emergencies
- Power Outages
- Traffic Accidents
- Floods
- Earthquakes
It would help the town align its communication during emergency situations and set out a plan for response.

Resident Dannielle Glaros also brought up the town's lack of emergency response plan during public comment at the .
Councilman Chris Henry (Ward 4) added that the town staff should do drills to prepare as well.
The resolution needs to be reviewed by council before it can be introduced for a vote.
