Happy Birthday, Jim Henson
University Park's famed resident would have celebrated his 75th birthday on Sept. 24.
Jim Henson, famous Muppet creator and possibly one of the most creative entertainers and entrepreneurs, would have been 75 years old this past Saturday.
Henson grew up in University Park in two homes and began his art of "muppetry" while living there. The town will celebrate there 75th Anniversary and the life Jim Henson at their on Oct. 9 (More details to come, so stay tuned to Patch.)
Soon after starting his bachelor's education at the University of Maryland, Henson created Sam and Friends, which aired live on WRC-TV, Washington, D.C. and included an early version of Kermit the Frog.

Henson went on to graduate from UMd. in 1960, and eventually moved on to create the Muppets.
