Riverdale Man Charged With Dupont Circle Murder

Brandon Terry, 29, was arrested in the November shooting death of 34-year-old Jhonte Coleman.

Authorities have arrested a Riverdale man in connection with a fatal shooting last year near Dupont Circle, according to police.

Brandon Terry, 29, was taken into custody Monday morning and charged with murder two while armed in the death of Jhonte Coleman, 34, of Suitland.

Police said Terry shot Coleman in the 1300 block of Connecticut Ave. NW during the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 27.

According to a Washington Post account of the incident, Coleman and friend Kevin Bost fled Heritage Indian Restaurant around 2:30 a.m. that morning when a fight erupted inside and spilled out onto the street.

As the pair crossed the road to escape the brawl, Bost told the Post, an unidentified man shouted "Oh, you’re with them" and fired shots at both.

Coleman, Bost, and another person suffered gunshot wounds, while three others were stabbed. Coleman later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Terry pursuant to a warrant around 8:15 a.m., according to MPD officer Anthony B. Clay.
