Shade Tree Reimbursement in University Park
The town will reimburse residents up to $300 towards the purchase of an approved shade tree.

In the interest of increasing and maintaining an urban tree canopy, The town of University Park will reimburse residents up to $300 to purchasing and planting an approved shade tree on private property.
"The purpose of the program is to enhance the town’s tree canopy, which provides many benefits including conserving energy, reducing air pollution, increasing property values, enhancing wildlife habitat and providing aesthetic benefits," states the town newsletter.
To be reimbursed for a shade tree, residents must follow the following directions:

- Plant a tree from the approved shade tree list
- Fill out the reimbursement request form
- Bring tree purchase receipt and the form to Mickey Beall at Town Hall or email the documents to mbeall@upmd.org
The town will continue the reimbursement program as long as funds are available. Total reimbursement per household is not to exceed $900 in a five year period, according to public works.
