Each year thousands come out to celebrate Riverdale Park. But , which is successful with the help of volunteers, is having some trouble recruiting folks to help this year. Nova Johns, coordinator for the event, said they need volunteers who will assist in set-up, clean-up, music, and parking, directing pedestrians, allowing access to the handicapped, residence, and vendors to the closed streets.     John said volunteers can work in three shifts: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., noon to 4 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Middle and high school students looking for service house will receive credit for their time. All volunteers will receive a FREE T-shirt, meal ticket and water as well for their service. Anyone willing to volunteer can contact Johns directly at 301-648-1665 or call Riverdale Park's town hall. They will order T-shirts soon. Riverdale Park Day will be on Oct. 1 at Riverside Park off Riverside Drive.
