The Preston of Rockville, a Kisco Senior Living community team participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 27 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. The team walked in honor of the families they serve, loved ones impacted by Alzheimer’s. The community set a fundraising goal of $2,000, with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association to support care, education, and research.
“Our Memory Care Neighborhood is a cornerstone of our community, and we’re proud to support the National Capital Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in providing critical resources and advancing research for those impacted by Alzheimer’s,” said Jackson Cherry, Executive Director of The Preston.
The Preston’s Memory Care Neighborhood is designed to support residents living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia by promoting independence, dignity, and individuality. Residents benefit from a full calendar of social, cultural, and educational programs, as well as on-call nursing and maintenance staff to ensure safety and comfort.

“Everyone’s journey with memory loss is different, which is why it’s so important to create programs and opportunities that meet people where they are,” said Cerena Anderson, business development director of The Preston of Rockville. “The Preston participating in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s gives us a chance to honor those unique experiences while uniting around a shared purpose.”
Since joining the Kisco Senior Living family earlier this year, The Preston team has begun training for Kisco’s Heirloom Memory Care program, which will implement innovative strategies such as the Montessori Method of Dementia Care and personalized dining experiences with chef-prepared meals. Looking ahead, The Preston also plans to introduce expanded caregiver resources, including support groups, educational presentations, and community events. Earlier this month, proceeds from the community’s Grand Re-Opening celebration also contributed to the fundraising goal.
