ROCKVILLE, MD — The retail apocalypse may soon be coming, but that won't stop shoppers from waking up for early doorbuster deals on Black Friday. With bellies full of turkey and eyes on savings, Maryland shoppers will hit the state's malls looking for the best deals on holiday gifts. Some will begin shopping on Thanksgiving, while many will wait until Black Friday to kick off the holiday season.

Debate over whether to shop on Thanksgiving has been fierce in recent years as Black Friday spills over into Thanksgiving evening; some object to employees having to work that night, while some workers love getting paid double or triple time.

• Lakeforest Mall - Gaithersburg: Open 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. Thanksgiving, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Black Friday
• Westfield Montgomery – Bethesda: Open 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Thanksgiving, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Black Friday
• Westfield Wheaton: Open 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Thanksgiving, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Black Friday
• Ellsworth Place - Silver Spring: The shopping center hours are not posted; check with individual stores.
