Rockville To Hold Gun Buyback Event Aug. 27

The Rockville buyback event will allow residents to dispose of their unwanted guns voluntarily, anonymously and safely, officials said.

ROCKVILLE, MD — The Rockville City Police Department, in partnership with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office and Montgomery County Public Schools, will announce details of a gun buyback event planned for Saturday, Aug. 27.

Rockville City Police Chief Victor V. Brito, Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy and Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Monifa B. McKnight will take part in a news conference on Wednesday at 1 p.m. to discuss the upcoming event.

"Every gun turned in is one less gun that could be used in a serious crime, suicide or domestic violence incident, or accidentally discharged by a child. Keeping guns off community streets, out of the hands of youth and out of our schools remains the highest priority for all," Rockville officials said in a media advisory.
