Rep. Chris Van Hollen presented the medals to the veteran's family at a ceremony.

A Rockville World War II veteran was honored at a ceremony when Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen presented the late Private First Class Richard Seidell’s Bronze Star and other medals to his family.
“It is never too late to honor those who served our country heroically,” said Van Hollen at the Dec. 19 ceremony. “Richard Seidell answered his country’s call and served with valor, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, helping to liberate Dachau, and serving in the Occupation Army. He truly represented the best of our ‘greatest generation.’ I’m honored to present these medals to his family.”
Seidell lived in Rockville until his death in July. He would have been 92 years old on Dec. 2, 2014.
